There are two types of nuclear reactions
1) Nuclear Fission:
It is of splitting of a heavy nucleus.
Ex:
  ²³⁵U₉₂ + ¹n₀ + nuclear fission → ¹³⁹Ba₅₆ + ⁹⁴K₃₆ + 3¹n₀ + Q(220 MeV -Huge                                                                                                                amount of energy)

2) Nuclear Fusion:
It is of fusing two or more lighter nuclei.
Ex:
 ²H₁ + ²H₁ → ³He₂ + ¹n₀

Note: ᵃN where a = mass no
          Nₓ where x = atomic no
