China is India’s largest trading partner. India-China trade stood at $70.8 Billions. India imports $58.8 Billion. India exports to China stood at just $11.76 billion. The trade deflect is a whopping $46.56 Billion. This shows how much China products are entering India.
The main exports from China are Electronic and Electrical equipment like Mobile phones and their parts, Engines, Motors, Pumps etc. Along with this Organic Chemicals, Fertilizers and many more. Along with these, China start exporting Diwali bombs, Holi colors, Kites and their threads and even Indian god and Goddess idols. There are several illegal imports which don’t have any notes on that.
India has a large labor force and most of India do business than job. This accounts from Agriculture, Manufacturing and Selling. China products are creating imbalance on selling Indian products. Chinese goods are much cheaper than Indian goods. But they don’t have quality. People who cannot afford money will go for those quality less products.
China’s key success to this is mass production and technology. For example, see Redmi mobiles, they open flash sale for 1 hour. They will easily sale 1 million mobiles. This is causing a severe impact on Indian mobile manufacturing companies to withstand in such competition.
A large number of Chinese products are flooding in India. One more major category of this is Plastic items and Toys. So many Indian small scale industries are being shutting down due to Chinese flow of products.China exports almost every plastic made products includes bottles, combs, chairs, stands, almost every thing. This is severely hurting Indian local markets.
China use harmful chemicals to manufacture Diwali crackers and Holi colors to decrease production cost. These factors are hurting Indians. They release harmful gases and create air pollution and also affect health. So many people got itches and skin and eye diseases and some people effected badly after using Holi colors imported from China.
Due to China’s cheap quality goods, they will not work after some time mainly smart phones. This is creating a large electronic waste. India even imposed dump tax for some mobile company makers. To set new companies and to generate employment, Indian government recently increase tax on imported phones from 15% o 20%. India also imposed tax on Chinese made tyres.
After NDA government’s Make in India initiative, things are going on India’s favor to some extent. Indian government should take more measures to strengthen the local market by tax reforms and training skilled labors.
