Phellogen is meristematic cell layer that is highly responsible for development of Periderm.

The cells in phellogen are thin walled and rectangular.

Phelloderm contains the parenchymatous cells.

Layer of tissue are thin and it produces cambium inside of the cork in woody plants.

Phelloderm forms secondary cortex in the layer to the high excellence.
