Rusting of iron is the process of reaction of Ferric (Iron) (Fe3) with Oxygen(O2) and Water(H2O) to form Hydrated Ferric Oxide also called as Rust (Fe2O3.xH2O) which is a brown powder over iron articles which is also called as corrosion over prolong contact with air and water of iron.

Reaction :

Fe(s) + O2(g) + H2O(l) = Fe2O3.xH2O(s)
