Plasmolysis occurs when there is an excess of salt or any other preservative in a substance, leading to dehydration of any micro - organism, such as bacteria, which falls in it. In daily life, plasmolysis is used to presereve pickles (by adding oil in it). If any mycro - organism falls in it, it's surrroundings will extract all the moisture from it's body, which in turn would lead to the micro - organism's death due to dehydration.
