Lucknow Pact of 1916 brought about many changes in the Nationalist arena of India. For one it was a huge success after Partition of Bengal uniting Hindu-Muslim communities. Sarojini Naidu even called Mohammed Ali Jinnah as the Ambassador of Peace because of his efforts to bring this Pact and Muslim League and INC together on one platform peacefully.

Althought there was one feature of the Pact that had an adverse effect on the society and British government of India caught it to divide our society furhter and that was :

"There should be separate electorates for all communities until they ask for joint electorate."

This divided the sects and various minorities of the Indian society came forward demanding separate electorates for themselves later.

In 1916, the Moderates and Radicals reunited to strengthen the National Movement after nine years and signed a joint pact at Lucknow with the Muslim League. They jointly demanded self-rule for India.
