a) The given mixture is of sand and camphor. Both the components are in solid state. On heating sand does not change its state but camphor on heating changes to vapor and sand is left behind. Thus, mixture of sand and camphor is purified by sublimation.

b) We can recover common salt from salt water mixture by the process of evaporation. ... When sea water is evaporated we get a mixture of salt. Common salt is obtained from this mixture of salt by further purification. When a sugar solution is evaporated ,then water is eliminated and solid sugar is left behind.

c) For Example: water and kerosene, petrol and water,oil and water,benzene and ether etc can be separated by using separating funnel. When the mixture of water and kerosene is put in a separating funnel,it forms two layers.

d) For example, liquid ethanol can be separated from a mixture of ethanol and water by fractional distillation. This method works because the liquids in the mixture have different boiling points. When the mixture is heated, one liquid evaporates before the other.
