When two or more elements combine to form a single element, then this type of reaction is known as Combination Reaction.

OR

When A and B reactants combine then they form a single product AB, then this type of reaction is known as Combination Reaction.

i.e.

A + B ----› AB

\textbf{Example}

1) CaO + H2O ------› Ca(OH)2 (exothermic reaction)

2) 2H2 + O2 -------› 2H2O

3) C + O2 -------› CO2

NOTE :-

* Combination Reactions are exothermic. As heat is produced during their bond formation in reactants.
