Suppose a ball is rollingon a ground with some initial velocity and u kick that ball and it's velocity increases
This is true that motion starts from 0 velocity that is from rest and this case intial velocity will remain zero.
But if we start our observation from when the particle is already in motion then at that case the intial velocity will be non zero.
