Diffusion in solid takes place , but at very low rate and takes a lot of time .. there is a good example - when you write on blackboard with chalk then , after 2~3 weeks you can observe it will become difficult to remove the chalk . You will need water and scrubber to do so...

Diffusion of solid is very slow process.
I can give you two examples so that you can understand.
1. If we write something on black board and leave it uncleaned for a considerable period of time (say 10 to 15 days) ,we will find that it becomes quite difficult to clean the black board afterwards.This is due to the fact that some of particles of chalk have diffused into the surface of blackboard.
2.If two metal blocks are bound together tightly and kept undisturbed for few years then the particles of one metal are diffused into another metal.
Solid-Solid diffusion is very slow, so that we can not detect it in our day to day life.
