All unsaturated hydrocarbons contain one or more double bonds or triple bonds . These double or triple Bonds have a tendency to get converted to single bond by adding small molecules ,Such as hydrogen , halogen ,water and halogen acids across them. Such reactions are called addition reaction .

The reactions in which one or more hydrogen atoms of a molecule are replaced by some other atoms or groups are called substitution reactions .

The addition of oxygen in a reaction or removal of hydrogen from a reaction is called oxidation reaction .
