The bond between a metal and hydrogen is termed as ionic as there is exchange of ions.
Example ---> Sodium hydride - NaH

The bond between a non-metal and hydrogen is termed as covalent as sharing of electrons takes place between the atoms
Best example ---> Water - H₂O

Hope This Helps You!
