The example of friction making something still is given below:

  • Friction can prevent the body to move from its resting position as well as it can bring the moving body to rest after some time in which both ways are called where friction is making the body still.
  • It means friction is some outside force making the body motionless.
  • This is caused when two rough surfaces of objects rub against each other.
  • Example: A person standing on the ground still is possible due to friction. This is because there are irregularities in the surface of the shoe person is wearing and the ground surface, which provide grips to stand on the ground.
  • If there was no friction one will move continuously without being stopped because there would be no barrier to motion.
  • Hence, an example is given.
