➡Tyndall effect can be observed when a fine beam of light enters a room through a small hole.

➡This happens due to the scattering of light by the particles of dust and smoke in the air. In the forest, mist contains tiny droplets of water, which acts as particles of colloid dispersed in air.

Answer:

The Tyndall effect is the scattering of light as a light beam passes through a colloid.

The individual suspension particles scatter and reflect light, making the beam visible.

The amount of scattering depends on the frequency of the light and density of the particles.

Examples:

i) The visible beam of headlights in fog is caused by the Tyndall effect.

ii) The water droplets scatter the light, making the headlight beams visible.

iii) Milk is a colloid that exhibits the Tyndall effect.
