when a ball reaches at highest point during its journey in upward motion then at highest point its velocity becomes zero but it still has an acceleration of 9.8m/s^2

At the peak of the trajectory, a vertically thrown object has gravity acting on it (accelerating it downwards at 9.8 m/s/s) while its velocity is zero.
