Forces affect how objects move. They may cause motion; they may also slow, stop, or change the direction of motion of an object that is already moving. Since force cause changes in the speed or direction of an object, we can say that forces cause changes in velocity. Remember that acceleration is a change in velocity. When a batsman will hit the ball with bat, the speed of moving ball changes.

---> When a person apply the brakes in car, suddenly the car comes to rest with decrease in speed.

---> When Fielder catches the ball, the speed of ball decreases.

--->When we pull the trolley, the speed of trolley increases.

Force is the physical cause which changes or tends to change the shape, size, state of rest, state of motion or dimensions of any object.

An example where force change the speed of a moving object is stated below:
When a batsman hits a ball thrown by a bowler, the speed of ball changes. The ball was initially at some other speed when thrown by the bowler. As the batsman hits that ball, the speed of ball changes along with the direction in which it is moving.
