it it is possible to have a situation in which the displacement is zero but the distance travelled is non zero. this only happens when the object moves in a straight line. for example, when a car moves on a straight road from first point the second point and back to the first point it covers a specific distance but the magnitude of displacement it remains 0 due to the initial point and the final point being the same.
