this system based on natural affinities among organis. it considered both external and internal features like ultrastructure, anatomy, embryology and phytochemistry.
this system is proposed by George Benthen and Joseph Dalton Hoiker for angiospermic plants.
Merits ::-
★ more advanced than artificial classification
★ Harley suitable for practical purpose
Demerits ::-
★ not a phylogenetic system hence primitive to phylogenetic classification.
★ gymnosperm is kept between dicot and monocot
