When ethanol is added to acetic acid which is also called ethanoic acid it will react with ethanol to form ester

"IUPSE Name" is Ethyl Ethonate or Ethyle Acetate.

Con. H2SO4

C2H5OH+CH3COOH============>

CH3COOC2H5+

H2O

Ethanol is not added to a mixture of H2So4 but it is heated with concentrated H2So4 to give ethene.

Con.H2SO4

C2H5OH============>C2H4+H2O
