Give one point of difference between OCR and OMR?

OMR only detects the presence of a mark while OCR needs discern what the mark is...
Anonymous: Also OCR requires a complex recognition engine while an OMR does not.

OMR tells whether a mark is present or not in a predetermined area.
OCR detects the presence of marks but determines what that mark is.
