Answer:

The Kushans were most probably one of five branches of the Yuezhi confederation,[18][19] an Indo-European nomadic people of possible Tocharian[20][21][22][23][24] origin, who migrated from northwestern China (Xinjiang and Gansu) and settled in ancient Bactria.[19] The founder of the dynasty, Kujula Kadphises, followed Greek religious ideas and iconography after the Greco-Bactrian tradition, but was also a devotee of the Hindu God Shiva, an almost historical necessity due to the presence of Indian culture and traders on the Silk Road.[25][26] The Kushans in general were also great patrons of Buddhism, and, starting with Emperor Kanishka, they also employed elements of Zoroastrianism in their pantheon.[27] They played an important role in the spread of Buddhism to Central Asia and China.
