the peat have very little amount of carbon in it but the moisture content is very high .
the lignite consist of woody matter with very little moisture. it have 70% carbon and is very crumble .
the bituminous is dense ,dark and brittle wthi almost no moisture .it has 80 to 85 %carbon in it .
anthracite is formed when bituminous remains inside earth for very very long time under extreme pressure .it has semi metallic lustre and is purest form of coal . it has 94 to 98 % carbon and is aka smokeless coal .
