There are three types of joints present in human body. They are–
a) Immovable joints
b) Partially movable joints
c) Freely movable joints

a) Immovable joints —
In this type of joints no movement is possible between the bones.
Ex– the structure between the bones of the skull box.
b) Partially movable joints —
In this type of joint the movement is possible to some extent, or in simple words very little movement is only possible between two bones.
Ex– the joint between a rib and the breast bone or between the vertebrae.
c) Freely movable joints —
In this type of joints, varying degrees of movement is possible between the two bones forming the joint.
This joint is divided into four types —
- Gliding joint
- Pivot joint
- Hinge joint
- Ball and socket joint.
