give properties of image formed by the concave mirror
Answers
Answer:
Concave mirrors can produce both real and virtual images;
they can be upright (if virtual) or
inverted (if real);
they can be behind the mirror (if virtual) or
in front of the mirror (if real);
they can also be enlarged, reduced, or the same size as object.
Answer :-
Formation of image by concave mirror -
i) When the object is placed between the pole and focus, then the image formed is virtual, erect and magnified.
( refer to the attachment i )
ii) When the object is placed at the focus then the image is formed at infintity. The image is extremely magnified.
( refer to the attachment ii )
iii) When the object is placed between the focus and centre of curvature, then the image formed is beyond centre of curvature. The image formed is real, inverted and bigger than that of object.
( refer to the attachment iii )
iv) When the object is placed at the centre of curvature, then the image is formed at centre of curvature. The image is real, inverted and equal to the size of object.
( refer to the attachment iv )
v) When the object is placed beyond the centre of curvature, then the image is formed between focus and centre of curvature. The image is real, inverted and diminished.
( refer to the attachment v )
vi) When the object is placed at infinity then the image is formed at the focus. The image formed is real, inverted and extremely diminished in size.
