1)what are acids and bases?define them with an example.

An acid is a substance that gives hydrogen ion H+or a hydronium ion H3O+when dissolved in water. A substance, which has an acidic nature, contains one or more hydrogen and an anionic group in its formula.

Example: H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) contains two hydrogens or hydrogen ion 2H+and sulfate anion  

A base is a chemical species that donates electrons or hydroxide ions or that accepts protons. Types of Bases: Arrhenius base, Bronsted-Lowry base, Lewis base. Return to the Chemistry Glossary Index.

2)what are indicators?

Indicators:  Indicators are substances that are used to test whether a substance is acidic or basic ot neutral in nature. They change their color when added to a solution containing an acidic or a basic substance.

Example: Turmeric gives brownish red color in basic medium and yellow in acidic medium
