Give reaason why phenol is more acidic than methanol

Because the solvation energy of hydroxide is even larger than that of methoxide, water is more acidic than methanol. Discussions of acidities of alcohols usually include phenol in which the enhanced acidity is generally attributed to stabilization of the phenoxide ion by resonance delocalization.
