Confidentiality and Integrity are needed simultaneously in many applications. The most common example I can think of is the SSL handshake.

Here the need for integrity arises for the fact that the client has to make sure that the server’s certificate has not been tampered with. Also, once the session key is generated, it has to be securely transported to the server end.
