Answer:

1) because in desert area the temperature is high so as to reduce the rate of transpiration by reducing the surface area by spines in place of leaves and also for protection from gazing animals.

2) The waxy covering on plant leaves, young stems, and fruit is called the "cuticle". It is composed of cutin, a wax-like material produced by the plant that is chemically a hydroxy fatty acid. The purpose of this covering is to help the plant retain water. In arid regions, that is very important.

Answer:

1. bcz bulbous stems and spines slows down the process of transpiration bcz there are scarcity of water in desert.

2.bcz in region of high rainfall, leaf will rot down and hence wax like substance helps to prevent it from rotting down......also roots are shallow bcz there are a lot of water and hence it doesn't need the root go deeper for water.

3.bcz air spaces make them light in weight which helps them to float on water......
