Answer:

  • The Indus River (also called the Sindhū) is one of the longest rivers in Asia. It flows through China (western Tibet), India (Ladakh) and Pakistan.[1] Originating in the Tibetan Plateau in the vicinity of Lake Manasarovar, the river runs a course through the Ladakh region of India,[a] towards Gilgit-Baltistan and then flows in a southerly direction along the entire length of Pakistan to merge into the Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi in Sindh.[2] It is the longest river of Pakistan

The "Ganges River", which is "2525 km", is the nation's longest rivers, although Indus river's length "2900km". The "Ganges" is considered the "longest" because.

(i) "Ganga" originates at "Gangotri glacier" in "Uttarakhand" and its opening is it at "Gangasagar" near "Kolkata", whereas "Indus river" originates near "Mansarovar" in "Tibet".

(ii) The "Ganges" flows within the borders of India before it flows into "Bangladesh". However, the "Indus River", being much longer than the "Ganges", much of it does not flow within "India".

Explanation:

  • The "Indus river" originates  in "Tibet", near "Mansarowar lake". Flowing "west", it comes into India in the "Ladakh district" of "Jammu&Kashmir". Many tributaries such as the Nubra, the Zaskar, the Hun, & the Shyok  join it in the "Kashmir region". The Indus flows via Gilgit & Baltistan & arises from the mountains near "Attock". The Beas, the Satluj, the Chenab, the Jhelum, & the Ravi integrate together entering "Indus" near "Mithankot" in "Pakistan". "Beyond" this, the "Indus flows" "southwards" ultimately reaching the "Arabian sea", east of "Karachi".
  • The "Bhagirathi", which is Ganges' "headwaters" is led by the "Gangotri Glacier" & joined by the "Alaknanda" at "Devaprayag", Uttarakhand. At "Haridwar", the Ganges arises from the "mountains" on to the "plains". The "Ganges" is joined by several tributaries from the "Himalayas". These are the "Ghagara", the "Yamuna", the "Gandak",  & the "Kosi". The "Yamuna" river emerges from the "Yamunotri Glacier" in the "Himalayas". It flows parallel to the "Ganges arid" as a "right bank tributary", meets the Ganges at Allahabad. The "Khosi", the "Ghaghara", & the "Gandak" emerge in the "Nepal Himalayas". The "major tributaries"  which come from the "peninsular uplands" are the "Son" ,"Chambal", & the Betwa. Extended with the waters from its "right & left bank" tributaries the "Ganges" flows "eastwards" till "Faraldca", "West Bengal". This is the "northern-most point" of the "Ganges" delta. The river "bifurcates" here. The "Bhagirathi-Hoogly" here flows south-wards via the "deltaic plains" to the "Bengal Bay".
