it is they share the atoms with each other they can attain stability

Electro negativity is the tendency to attract electrons
when the 2 bonding atoms have nearly same electro negativity they attract electrons with the same intensity....this results in the electron getting shared mutually between the 2 atoms and hence results in a covalent bond
