a) Na, K, Li are very reactive metals and reacts readilly with oxygen as well as water and so they are stored under oil.
b) Al slowly gets oxidised to form a thin inert layer of aluminium oxide which prevents further corrosion of aluminium and hence does not reacts even at the time of cooking. That's why, it's used for making utensils.
