Explanation -

During swimming, a swimmer pushes the water in backward direction with his hands. In reaction water pushes the person in forward direction with equal force (as for every action there is equal and opposite reaction) due to this the person is able to swim in forward direction.

According to Newtons third law of motion action = reaction . Because when swimmer push the water in backward direction which is action force , water also exerts equal and opposite force on swimmer that is reaction force . So the swimmer can able to swim .
