the ores of many metals are oxides...it might be because the oxide ores are very easy to reduce ....b)removal of oxygen frm a substance  is by process of reduction

a) many ores of metals are oxides because ores are usually exposed to air, which contains a great amount of oxygen, ores come in contact with oxygen and hence get oxidised.

b) obtaining metals from their ores is called reduction because of the fact that metal can be extracted from their ores by removing oxygen which is mixed, here, removing means reduction.
