because Aluminium is malleable and can be beaten into thin sheets and moreover it does not react with food

Aluminium is highly malleable metal and it is very easy to make aluminium foil as compared to other metals. And aluminium also great with oxygen and form a protective outer covering which resist the metal from further oxidation.It doesn't react with food items.
