An electric bulb gives out light when connected in a circuit and switched on. ​

A general electric bulb is made using a wire of high resistance and melting point like tungsten (3695K). So, when current is passed through it, the resistance offered is very high therefore it glows. This is why the bulb glows and when touched could feel the heat being produced.

Answer: An electric bulb gives out light when connected in a circuit and switched on because an electric bulb needs electricity to glow. When the bulb is connected with the circuit and switched on the electricity starts flowing. This makes bulb to glow.
