the reasons -:

1. While natural topography and excess rain are obvious causes, floods are also caused by human interventions like encroachment, lack of drainage, hill cutting and deforestation.

2.Year after year, the biggest state in the northeastern region, Assam, is ravaged by floods. It displaces thousands and damages property worth billions—but lessons are rarely learnt.

3.While natural topography and excessive rainfall are obvious causes, floods are also caused by human intervention—like encroachment of river banks and wetlands, lack of drainage, unplanned urban growth, hill cutting and deforestation.
