Maybe because heat rises up and clearly the flame is a source of heat because the coolest part of the flame is on the inside.
or it maybe that
air exerts its pressure upwards.

actually hot molecules goes upwards and cool molecules downwards.flame consists of hot molecules and therefore the flame appears to be moving upwards.
