Explanation:

1-the coil has large no. of turns so its magnetic field is strong and when the key K is closed the circuit is closed . So when the current flows throw wires it creates magnetic effects and because of this the galvanometer pointer moves.

2-when the key K is opened the circuit is broken so no current flows and because of this no change in galvanometer.

NOTE- The non -conducting cylinder is just to prevent the flow of current from the circuit .
