because of  variable  oxidation state and multiple bond formation ability

rupalisharma78572: tell me in details
rupalisharma78572: please
chandershubham293: 1.They provide large surface area for hetrogeneous catalysis.

2.They show variable oxidation state and can change oxidation state within process of reaction to form intermediate complexes of lower activation energy for reaction to take place .

example 1. iron used as catalyst in habours process for manufacture of ammonia

2. V2O5 is used in contact process for manufacture of H2SO4
rupalisharma78572:  The reactivity of haloalkane towards nucleophilic substitution reactions is RI>RCI>RBr

A valence electron is a single electron which is responsible for the chemical properties of the atom. Transition metals are good catalyst as they easily give and take electrons from other molecules (have variable oxidation states) and provide sufficient surface area for the reaction to take place.

hope this helps you
