Hey there!! here's Ur answer..
Maratha Empire is also known as Maratha Confederacy because it was never a single kingdom or state. There was many chieftains in the empire - Peshwa in Pune, Scindia in Gwalior, Holkars in Indore, Gaekwad in Baroda, Bhonsale of Nagpur, Chatrapati at Kolhapur etc. Chatrapati was the nominal head and Peshwa was the chief minister. But later Peshwa became real king and by the time of three Anglo-Maratha wars, Peshwa had lost their supreme position and the empire was just a Confederacy of local chiefs.

There were rivalry between all the power centers. Some time Holkar would fight with Peshwa and sometime they would fight with Scindia etc. Also many people had claim on the post of Peshwa and the company took advantage of this feud in Pune. Holkars and Scindias were more concerned in saving their state not Peshwa.

Also Marathas had not given much attention in improving the condition of common people. They had also ignored the western kind of warfare (but a few leaders had adpated the western ways well and had defeated English forces also).

These were a few of the reasons of loss of Marthas in war with Company.
Hope it helps..
