1.the glottis in oesophagus is guarded by epiglottitis which is a membrane flap like structure to prevent entry of food in wind pipe during ingestion .
2.the trachea wall is supported by cartilaginous rings as the tracheal cartilages help support the trachea while still allowing it to move and flex during breathing.
