give reason for the following
1. the temperature remains same when change of state of matter takes place
(2) liquid have no definite shape but a definite volume
(3) a large volume of gas can be compressed in a small cylinder
(4) particles in a solid do not flow (5) a person with high fever often advised to put a wet cloth on forehead

(1)This is because of latent heat , In this the energy is required to change the state matter or to crack the bond of matter.
(2)If the particles of a substance have enough energy to partially overcome intermolecular interactions, then the particles can move about each other while remaining in contact. This describes the liquid state. In a liquid, the particles are still in close contact, so liquids have a definite volume. However, because the particles can move about each other rather freely, a liquid has no definite shape and takes a shape dictated by its container.
(3)The volume of gas decreases with increase in pressure.

Since there is lot of space between the particles, gas is highly compressible. Large volume of gas can be compressed to a small volume. Because of this nature high compressibility, gas is transported easily after compressed to a small volume in cylinders.

Natural gas is compressed to small volume and packed in cylinders. It is used widely as fuel to running vehicles. Because of compression it is called Compressed Natural Gas or simply known by CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).

Oxygen is compressed and packed in small cylinders, which is used to save life in hospitals.

On increasing more pressure gas turns into liquid.

They are held tightly together by strong forces of attraction. They are held in fixed positions but they do vibrate.Because the particles don't move, solids have a definite shape and volume, and can't flow.Because the particles are already packed closely together, solids can't easily be compressed.Because there are lots of particles in a small volume, solids are dense.Powdered solids can take the shape of their container, only because their small size allows for the movement of separate solids against each other. Individual pieces of solid do not change shape and the particles will not mix by themselves.
(5)Because the water evaporates and absorb the heat from the body that cause cooling and lowering the  body temperature. that is why the doctor advices to put strips of wet cloth on the forehead of a person having fever.
(6)It's the point at which the molecules gain enough energy (kinetic) to overcome the energy barrier of a phase transistion.

The molecules try to escape always, even when not heated, meaning the surface is a dynamic equilibrium where by SOME molecules escape into the gas phase, and some are re-absorbed into the liquid. This is what gives a liquid a vapour pressure.

Intermolecular forces keep the liquid together at a substance but at the boiling point of the substance the molecules have energy to escape but are still mingled together, bouncing off of each other, gaining and loosing kinetic energy around the boiling point throughout. This is the latent heat exchange process of a phase transition, or enthalpy of vaporization (where they say “"heat is added during vaporization but the temperature doesn't rise until it all turns to vapour””).

Both phases co-exist at this temperature and a study of this change muddies the once clear concept of what seperates liquids from gases.

In any event, once the heated molecules have gained enough energy and find a way out of the boiling clusterfuck, they will become gaseous and if enough energy is added then all molecules will become gaseous.
