a.Granulated zinc is ideal for the preparation of hydrogen gas in chemical laboratories because it usually contains a small amount of copper, which has the ability to act as a catalyst to the associated chemical reaction and, therefore, increase the rate of the chemical reaction without actually participating in it.

b. Metals react with acid to form H2 gas but when metals react with HNO3 no H2 gas is liberated because HNO3 is a strong oxiding agent which oxidise H2 to H2O and reduce itself to any of its oxides.

c. Since they contain air mixed with the gas. Air mixed with hydrogen forms an explosive mixture.
