1.Aluminium oxide is amphoteric. It has reactions as both a base and an acid. Reaction with water: Aluminum oxideis insoluble in water and does not react like sodium oxide and magnesiumoxide. The oxide ions are held too strongly in the solid lattice to react with the water.

2.Magnesium does not react with coldwater. It reacts with hot water to formmagnesium hydroxide and hydrogen.Magnesium starts floating due to the bubbles of hydrogen gas sticking to its surface.As the Bubbles move up it pulls Mg with it.

hey mate your answer is :
i) aluminium oxide is considered as atmospheric oxide because it is insoluble in water and don't react with sodium oxide or magnesium oxide.

II) Magnesium starts floating due to the bubbles of hydrogen gas sticking to its surface.As the Bubbles move up it pulls Mg with it.
