Any can or jar where the lid has swollen and is pliable under thumb pressure is a ticking bomb if consumed. Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium that causes botulism, has no scent and no taste. Even if the lid is puffed, never be duped by the lack of bad smell. NEVER open a suspect jar or can to taste test the contents. If it is leaking, handle with extreme care, preferably with gloves.
