(a) In desert plants, the leaves are modified into spines.
Desert plants have the following adaptations to conserve water in their body: (a) In desert plants, leaves are modified into spines to reduce the loss of water through transpiration. Stem becomes green and performs photosynthesis, e.g., cactus.

Answer:
a) The Cactus plant is native to arid and semi-arid regions. It is distinguished by its 'spines' which are the modified versions of its leaves. Its leaves are modified to extremely small-sized spines to minimize the surface area from which water can be lost.
b) They have gills, which they use to filter oxygen from the water. They can’t get enough oxygen on land, causing them to suffocate. Their bodies are also coated in a slime, which protects them. Out of water, this slime will dry out and cause them to die. There are certain types of fish, such as snakeheads and a lot of catfish species, that can live for longer periods of time out of water.
There’s a type of fish called the mudskipper, they look kind of like frogs. They’re closely related to gobies. They use their pectoral fins and pelvic fins like arms and legs to walk on land when the tide retreats. They burrow into the mud or hide under wet seaweed to keep moist.
There are also bichirs (Pronounced like bikers or bish-ears), a prehistoric fish that can live their entire lives out of water if their environment is humid enough. They’re really cool-looking.
C) Tress are normally cone-shaped on the mountains. Snow accumulates on the branches and leaves, when there is snowfall. The conical shape of trees prevents as much accumulation of snow as there would be on broader shapes. The conical shape of the tress also help to get the snow fall very quickly and to get the sunlight which help the trees to adapt in that environment.
