(a)

In minute pores of sponge air is trapped. When pressed, air is expelled out so it is compressible. It is a solid as it has definite sheape and volume.

(b)

The temperature remains constant during the change of state because the heat energy which is supplied to change the state of matter is used in breaking the intermolecular forces and other attractive forces. Hence the temperature remains constant as all the heat is used up and no external heat is released or absorbed.

(c)

You must wear light-coloured clothes, instead of those with dark colours to keep heat away and to keep your body cool. Whites and pastel shades are recommended for summers. Keep the blacks and blues for colder weathers as they can make your body feel warm and uncomfortable.

Answer:

a) Sponge is a solid because it is neither liquid nor gas. OR it does not show the properties of liquid i.e. it does not flow also it is not gas as its molecules are not bonded too loosely. so it is a solid.

b) During change of state tenperature remains constant because change of state depends upon amount of heat rather than degree of temperature.

c) Dark coloured clothes or the silk or acrylic clothes absorb heat radiations and get heated very quicly. So, we should not wear these clothes during summer or sunny days.
