a) The tyres of vehicles are always treaded.

b) A piece of firewood catches fire on rubbing.​

a) The tyres of vehicles have treads in them to increase the friction between the tyre and the road and to prevent skidding.

b) When I was a scout we were taught how to make fire by rubbing two sticks together ... heat energy the wood at that point may smoulder and eventually catch fire.
