ANSWER

When all the parallel rays reflected from a rough or irregular surface are not parallel, the reflection is known as diffused or iregular reflection . Diffused reflection is NOT due to failure of law of reflection . It is caused by the irregularity in the reflecting surface like that of the cardboard .

It always take place on the rough surface because the rough surface on which the ray of light is incident reflects the light in different directions. These results into the irregular reflections of light. ... Thus, diffused reflection takes place on rough surfaces ..
