give reason for the following.
(i) A gas exerts pressure on the walls of the container.
(ii) A gas fills the vessel in which it is kept

1.gas particle have kinetic energy stored in them due to which they continuously move which result to collision with wall of container & hence it apply some pressure.
2.a gas can fill the container in which it is kept bcz gas has very large intermolecular space & covers completely the container.

Because in the gaseous state, the particles move about randomly at high speed. Due to this random movement, the particles hit each other and also the walls of the container. The pressure exerted by the gas is because of this force exerted by gas particles per unit area on the walls of the container.
